Imaginary friends. We’ve been through a few of them already with Jessica, they kind of come and go as they please. Only a few stick for longer than a few days and when they’re gone we actually miss them.
Her latest friend is her husband, Tom. He came around on Christmas Eve right after Grandpa gave her a princess cell phone. Mr. Schaap and I were none too pleased about Tom because apparently they had eloped without even getting the blessing. Mr. Schaap had quite the talk with Tom over the princess cell phone to clarify his intentions with his daughter.

Since then Tom has been a part of everything we do as a family. Tonight he came with us to Best Buy to make a few returns and when the Customer Service Rep asked Jessica what she was doing she matter of factly let her know that she was speaking to her husband. Because, you know, this is obvious. Needless to say we got a few people within ear shot to giggle and help Jessica search for her husband near the TV’s. The manager told her most husbands go there to hide. She believed him.
To top it all off right now Jessica and Tom are in her room going to bed together. In a tent. Under her glow in the dark stars on her ceiling. I kissed Jessica goodnight then I had to kiss Tom, too. And sing to him as well – and read him the same stories. There’s only one sleeping bag though and, well, Tom … has another think comin.
There will be no imaginary husbands in that sleeping bag, thankyouverymuch.
