We like to read over here at the Schaap household. A lot. We tend to buy quite a few books second hand for the kids because we go through them so quickly. I picked this one up at a second hand store on our latest trip out West to Washington. It was a quarter. STEAL, or so I thought. I didn’t really read the handful of books I picked up from this store, I chose instead to look at their photos first and was taken by the marine life in this book. I like fish. I like fish a lot. Done deal. Buuut … well, see for yourself.
Hmmm. Somehow Jessica still LOVES this book. I just can’t help but cringe every time I read it. Go 1966!
Do tell, where did it first hit you? Page one? 5??
i’m just glad the huge white shark is a man-eater. that means you me and Jessica are safe. Better arm Aaron, Dave and Oliver w/the appropriate weapons! š
lol! No kidding. They were apparently partial to only caring about the safety of men when they wrote this book. But of course “man-eater” is supposed to encompass the women-folk too.
hehehe… i love it. though kaylo wouldn’t–he wouldn’t handle it as well as jessica (especially page 12). i love the line “other sharks can not be trusted”. š
Very cute book! Great practice for early readers too, definitely a keeper!
