I drive by the lake
in full view
on sunny afternoons
cliff road sides
long drops
and it’s painful
how beautiful it is
so painful, like longing
I want to wake up there
I want to write there
and overlook that waterscape
every day, every minute
I think I’ll be eternally
happy there, that none
of my problems or pitfalls
can possibly follow me
to a lakeshore
where they’d be instantly
drown out by the lapping
melody of the lake
kissing my soul
collecting all my tears
and taking me away.
Beautiful words. Really appreciate Michigan, all the time.
