The tour of the Bungalow

Welcome!

Bungalow, before

Here’s our tiny little bungalow with a big heart.

The above is a closet that they made into the laundry area (with stackable’s) but we’ll be moving the laundry to the basement and making this a pantry or something more useful for us. It’s directly off the back door (to outside, from the “mud room”)

Now turn around (in your head) and you’ll see a little hallway to the bedrooms, separated by the bath.

And there you have the main floor.

Now the basement:

Stairs to basement are in the little mudroom, too.

The basement makes the least amount of sense in this house – so I’m guessing that over time you’ll see the biggest difference down there. We’ll be opening the space up quite a bit, closeting some of the exposed plumbing etc, getting rid of the wood burner and carpeting/making it nice down there for a bonus space and possible extra bedroom in the future. (For one of the two kids we already have, you bump watchers.)

Let’s head to the back yard. Back to the mud room for the back door:

There’s a deck! And it’s fenced!

But no grass. Ha!

And there you have it!

Our little Bungalow. With a Tin Post!

Today we meet with the electrician (the house is running on 4 fuses or something silly like that) and the Heater guy as well as the contractor to talk over plans for the bathroom, kitchen (where are those cabinets?? and appliances??) and basement.

The garage needs a new door, the house needs gutters, and as we learned yesterday from the plumber the house needs some work there too.

Wish us luck! Hoping to close on May 5th (which is my son’s birthday, too!).

We’re …

I feel like I spend a lot of time explaining things lately. Connecting dots, weaving a web.

I’m exhausted.

And we’re buying a house!

Our bungalow

It’s a tiny little thing, our kids will still share a room. But it has a back yard! With trees!

And it was on sale. Major sale.

Details are still in the works, we haven’t closed yet so bear with me – we’ll reveal the process of going from renting, looking for more rentals, possibly moving out of state – to buying a little bungalow.

I just really needed to get that out there. I’ve been in a haze of planning, meetings, contracts, negotiations and every day life. Not to mention we leave Friday morning for a vacation.

I bought a new domain and will reveal it shortly – it’ll just be a place to park the story of how we came to owning this little haven in the city.

Aaaaaaand scene.
